I have been trying to post the same blog post for almost a week now. Honestly, being a mom of two is definitely more time consuming than I thought. I knew it would be a lot of work, but I was hoping with fingers crossed, that it wouldn’t be to bad. And generally it’s not. But blue eyes likes to push his limits with mommy. And as soon as daddy gets home, he’s back to a perfect little angel, so of course daddy doesn’t believe me. Our little bug is growing like a week. She’s got some seriously chunky cheeks, but the rest of her is as thin as her brother.
Hubby is finishing up school for the semester. That means a ton of proof-reading for me. He’s super smart, but cannot write to save his life. Usually I get a paper full of no punctuation, bullet points, and websites instead of citations. Then we have to sit down together so I can figure out what the heck he’s trying to say. Let’s face it, school is a full-time job for both of us.
We are also leaving at the end of the week to take care of some home repairs back at hubby’s hometown. Can’t say I’m looking forward to that drive with two kids under two. If things go well, we will be picking up my nephew to spend a couple weeks with us as well. So it will definitely be a chaotic trip.
With having baby bug, I’ve of course read everything I can about breast-feeding and pumping. Blue Eyes was such a bad nurser that I was lucky to make it three months with supplementing. He was impatient and hungry all the time, to where it took all of my efforts to even give him three months. I’m glad I stuck with it though, he has really bad allergies and asthma. I can’t imagine how bad it would have been if I hadn’t given him as much breast milk as possible. Little bug on the other had isn’t having any trouble at all. But that doesn’t mean I always like being attached to her. Sometimes I feel banished to my room since we have so many people here all the time. So I stumbled upon this site for mom’s who exclusively pump, and I have to say, it makes me feel so much better!
Enjoy the read! I hope to update again soon, but please bear with me as I adjust to our new life. :0) Oh and someone pass me a frozen drink please?

I can’t believe this was just a year ago
It’s been hot here. I mean like summer hot. Then again, we never really get a spring or fall, so I’m not surprised. Poor Blue Eyes discovered that if you walk on the patio in bare feet, it will hurt. I felt so bad because I had the water on and I was trying to cool down the area he was playing, but I wasn’t quick enough. After he cried, I put him inside and hubby helped me gather all the dogs. As mean as I feel doing it, It was haircut day yesterday. Blackjack loves it. He lays down and enjoys cooling down while he gets pet. The only part he doesn’t like is around the legs and tail. So we just trim him up and skip the rest. Gamble was so curious and kept getting his nose in the way. So once Blackjack wandered off, he willingly took Blackjack’s spot for a turn. He didn’t do too bad. I was surprised because they weren’t around last summer. Gamble doesn’t have very thick fur, so it only took a couple of minutes to get his undercoat done. Bear wasn’t too bad either. As long as one of us sat there petting his face and telling him he was such a good boy, he didn’t move a whole lot. He did get antsy at first, but can you really blame him? With all our overheating black puppies done, it was time for Domino. Domino is my little lion. He has thick fur and hates getting a hair cut. It’s hard to do a decent job for him. We have to pin him between us and the house and then one person pets and loves on him, while the other person cuts. For all of Domino’s amazing golden colors, his undercoat is almost pure white. So he always looks so funny with a haircut. Pure white body with a golden head and tail. I say give it two weeks and they won’t look so funny. But at least they won’t overheat now. And we never cut it so short that they get sunburnt.
Instead of a sweet mommy’s day boy, I got my little monster. He woke me up by climbing on top of me and bouncing. He then proceeded to run around the house screaming, snuck outside before I could get the door shut. Put all of his toys behind the Aloe plant, which daddy is allergic to, so mommy gets to save the toys. Then while I’m getting the toys, he sneaks inside to throw dog food everywhere and proceed to eat it, even though he knows better. I gave him a waffle, but he decided it was a great thing to share with Domino. I went to let the puppies out and he sneaks into mommy’s room and proceeds to play with the toilet plunger (thank god it’s new) and run around screaming again. All of this in two and a half hours!
Happy Mother’s day to all of you wonderful mothers out there…. hopefully your little monsters are being sweet today. :0)
During the day BIL accidently left the back door open after the lawn got watered. It wasn’t a big deal, until Blue Eyes discovered this fact. It got awful quiet, really quick. I looked down for two seconds and looked back up just in time to see Blue Eyes putting muddy hand prints on my leg. Yay for boys! He ran quickly back outside and since he was already covered in mud, I thought I wouldn’t miss the opportunity for a photo op. I ducked back inside and grabbed my camera, making sure my little monster didn’t follow me in. So here is my lovely blue eyes enjoying every moment of the wonderful mud.
what is this gooey stuff?
running, running, running…. keep those little feet running
This isn’t pie….
Domino could care less that Blue Eyes is covered in mud
Hey this stuff feels squishy!
Hey something’s missing
What gets dirty, must get clean
All clean again
My giant floor cushion still needs to be rounded out
I know I’ve been very busy the last couple of weeks. I’ve done a lot of research on floor cushions because my hubby loves to lay on the floor while we watch a movie. After looking and looking, I decided all the cushion patterns were either way to small or else they cost way too much to make. The biggest one I could find was only a third of the size we wanted.
It was slightly disheartening when I wanted to make him the cushion myself. I did find one pattern that wasn’t bad, but it still wasn’t big enough. And it wasn’t removable. Since we have three dogs and an honorary dog, removable and washable is a big must. So I looked at several patterns and created my own. I’m very proud of myself for how it turned out. I still need to make a round filler cushion, but he couldn’t wait, so we stuffed it without temporarily. I looked on Etsy and found out that the smaller cushions were selling for 75-125 dollars a piece! And that didn’t include the stuffing to fill it. It definitely took me 100 in yarn and the stuffing itself was really expensive. I bought enough stuffing to make several more cushions, but I’m not really sure how they will be received. Please let me know how they look and what you’d consider buying them for! The cover is removable, and washable, and the opening has buttons.
My hubby is my reluctant model
My boys seem to like the cushion. I woke up in the middle of the night to find both of them cuddled up on the floor pillow with blankets.
My boys sleeping
It’s supposed to be nap in the sun time. :0)
Daddy and Blue Eyes enjoying the sunshine
Sometimes it’s the little moments that make us smile the most. This is a moment I caught the other day, that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
