It’s a……

The last time I posted I was able to share my family’s exciting news! We are expecting. Life definitely has a way of keeping you busy. It’s the end of January, and life has been flying. In the last two months, we have settled into our new home, and started finding activities that the kids will enjoy. They have an amazing toddler learning center here that offers free child play once a week. The kids love it, and they offer so many things that expand the imagination. Plus it breaks up the sameness of the rest of the week.

We also discovered the local library has toddler reading time. They read stories, sing songs, and do a craft to help the kids remember the story. This is also free for the kids!!!! I swear if you are new to an area, check out the local library. They are usually really good at knowing what is available.

Other than that, we’ve been dealing with Daddy on Deployment. We got super lucky this time. He actually has internet capabilities, and the kids have seen him almost every day so far. Sometimes Blue Eyes asks if daddy is sleeping at work. It’s hard to explain to a three year old that daddy had to go super far to work and won’t be home for a long time. So we are in the process of putting together a daddy wall! I’m buying little pieces here and then, when I get them all gathered, we will have a day to put it all together. I want to make a chain for each day, but we aren’t sure when he will be coming home, so I don’t want to make it too short.

In other exciting news, our baby is growing on schedule. And I’m excited to post this picture that a great photographer friend of mine, Chrystal Parks, made to do our gender reveal! And it looks like we are going to be a two boy, one girl family!!!

Curious George and the Zoo

It’s been a great week, but exhausting. BIL’s little boy is here. BIL’s little boy loves Curious George. We decided to drive down to San Diego to see the zoo. We left super early in the morning and got there right at opening.

Weddings, ER visits and Night-time Games

A good friend of mine got married yesterday. Congrats to her and her husband! She looked so beautiful in her mermaid dress. I went back and forth for a while on if I should wear a maternity dress or the dress I have from before that still zipped. I hated feeling and looking frumpy just because I am pregnant, so I did decide to wear the other dress. The only thing I wish is that it had been a little longer, it was really hard to chase my baby boy while wearing. Without the belly it’s perfectly fine, but not with. :0) It was nice to be around other grown ups, but I’m thinking that next time we will find a sitter for one little boy. I do miss interacting with grown ups without a little boy’s help.

The wedding was on a golf course so it was a little hard on the legs. They had carts ready to shuttle people back and forth with was amazing. I don’t think I could have lasted if they hadn’t. During the ceremony little man was so good until they turned off the music. Then he says really loud “Uh Oh” and started crying. It was funny and embarrassing at the same time. Hubby was amazing about playing with Blue Eyes. They caught a lizard and thought it would be a great thing to show mommy. Unfortunately mommy was at the table and the lizard escaped underneath the table and started to crawl up one of the guests legs. It was hysterically funny, but thankfully it was re-caught very quickly.

Some time down the road poor little blue eyes was chasing his new found friend and took a tumble. After the tumble he would put weight on his foot and collapse. Daddy and I both checked his foot out and he didn’t flinch when we touched it, but something was obviously not right. I felt bad, but we had to hold him for the rest of the little bit we stayed at the wedding. To make it even worse we decided to take him in and even with him screaming bloody murder, they decided to take almost 40 minutes. Thankfully the Doc we really like was on duty and once he got taken back he was seen very quickly. They took some x-rays and for now it looks like it’s just sprained. They said they would have the x-ray tech take a look when they came back in on Monday. My poor little Blue Eyes has bruises all over his foot. It was close to two am by the time we left for home.

Thankfully Blue Eyes slept in today because of it. I think for the first time in his life, he slept till almost 10am. We got a call from his God mama asking if we’d like to see a movie, so Blue Eyes and I scrambled to get dressed and left. He loved the magic scenes of the movie, but the rest of the time he just wanted to run. Thankfully the theater was not very packed and we had about two rows of no people. It was nice just to be out of the house. Little man was ready for a nap when we got back so I got some more time to relax. The rest of the day we played all kinds of games and Blue Eyes found his blankie.

At bedtime he was super ready to go to sleep. He’s gotten to where he’ll lead you to his bed, but sometimes he just doesn’t want to sleep. He took his bottle and went down easily. But I didn’t think to take our older two pups out of the room. I figured they would be happy just to sleep. Sure enough about twenty minutes later, I hear giggling and puppies running about. I cracked the door to see two happy puppies running in circles and one giggling baby chasing them. I put Blue Eyes back to sleep and made the pups leave the room, but I failed to notice Bear had snuck into the room. Again about ten minutes later I hear Blue Eyes and this time Bear is howling over and over. I cracked open the door to find a completely naked Blue Eyes thinking mommy is going to let him get back up. I see Bear sneak out and so I took a minute to re-diaper little man and look for the missing one. Bear loves to hide under the bed, so pushing it out, I see a shredded diaper. I picked up what I could and stuck Bear in his kennel. Blue Eyes cried when I put him back to sleep, but it was now close to 930, way to late for little boys to be up. Tomorrow Daddy is going to have to help me pull out the bed all the way so we can vacuum and carpet clean where the diaper was. Well, now we know, bedtime comes and we must do a through check for puppies before we put Blue Eyes to sleep.

The Mommy who Cried Labor…..

its a girl
As the time draws close, I feel like a new mommy again. I can’t remember the hiccups and pains that I swore I’d never forget. Blue Eyes was by definition an easy pregnancy. The biggest problem I had with him was that I had a hip pop out of place and nobody told me I could have a chiropractor put it back into place. So for the last trimester, walking was extremely painful, but having puppies and a hubby who worked at night, I walked through the pain. Little Miss is different though, I have a ton more of those annoying Braxton Hicks. Sometimes I can time it down to where I start to think “uh oh, this might be it.” But as soon as I go to call my hubby or wake him up, or whatever, next thing I know they have disappeared again. Talk about feeling like the boy who called wolf, or in my case the mommy who cried labor.

I find myself panicking at the things that need to be done still. I have a babysitter for Blue Eyes, at least until my family can come…. and I have a couple friends I know who would be willing to be backup, but I’m still nervous. Blue Eyes has never spent a full night away. I know he loves the people who offered to watch him, but what about bedtime? Or not really bed time, it’s more of the waking up in the morning. He did well with my little sister, Bing; but Bing has a similar temperament and personality to me. Plus we look a lot alike. Once he realized she was good he spent weeks looking for her after she went back home.

My house is a disaster zone. Between hubby trying to finish his school, and me trying to finish mine, nobody ever has time for basic cleanup. We struggle to even get the dishes done some days. It’s starting to bother both of us. I did manage to get most of the clean clothes folded today. A major improvement from the laundry basket they’ve been living in. The puppies got their summer haircuts and BIL is back from seeing his son. SO I really shouldn’t be worried right? Well there’s still a dozen things on my mind.

I need Hubby to re-stain the dresser in the garage so I can get little miss’s clothes organized. Thank goodness for a sister with a little girl. I haven’t had to buy any clothes unless I just couldn’t resist. Blue Eyes needs the too small clothes removed from his closet yet again. I swear he’s growing too fast, he’s already over 32 inches tall! But he’s so skinny we have to get those pants with the draw elastic in them. SO out go his clothes. I need a nice big container for those. Hubby isn’t ready to get rid of them yet because we are undecided on how many kids we actually want.

Oh and that mommy hospital bag? I have to laugh at the idea. I read post after post, and blog after blog on what I would need. Yeah, I ended up sending hubby home a couple times to take things that were pointless and get things we needed. I remember being grateful for my own shampoo, my own pillow, and a blanket since our hospital is always freezing. He also had to bring me a baggy pair of sweats and a hairbrush. Anything else, forget it. I don’t care that my newborn pictures look like hell. It’s my little family, and I could care less what others think.
This time we have been looking at a “big brother” present that’s “from the baby”. People keep telling me to get him a baby so he has his own to copy mommy, but I’m not sure if that’s how we’re going to go. I have no problem with him having a baby, but he likes stuffed animals a lot, and he loves books. I’m thinking maybe just a couple of his favorites and then food. lol our little boy sure loves food. Anyone have ideas on what works with introducing a new sister to that young of a baby? Blue Eyes will be just over a year and a half when his little sister arrives.

Blue Eyes discovers Mud Pies

During the day BIL accidently left the back door open after the lawn got watered. It wasn’t a big deal, until Blue Eyes discovered this fact. It got awful quiet, really quick. I looked down for two seconds and looked back up just in time to see Blue Eyes putting muddy hand prints on my leg. Yay for boys! He ran quickly back outside and since he was already covered in mud, I thought I wouldn’t miss the opportunity for a photo op. I ducked back inside and grabbed my camera, making sure my little monster didn’t follow me in. So here is my lovely blue eyes enjoying every moment of the wonderful mud.

With Blue Eyes I didn’t realize that when babies come home from the hospital, you can’t even see their outfit. We let him wear the hospital hat and didn’t even realize I would never get a picture of his adorable little outfit. A year and half later, I can’t remember what he was wearing. Makes me very sad. So I decided this time, I was going to do something special for both kiddos. I made Blue Eyes a little dinosaur hat by putting together three different patterns for baby hats. It turned out so cute that I made a baby sized one for our little girl. So when we come from home from the hospital I can get pictures of Mr. Blue Eyes and his baby sister in cute little hats. I hope you guys like how they turned out. I used my childhood toys to get the spike positioning back.

Work, School and Babies….. head spinning yet?

Poor hubby has been at work all weekend. He works nights and for some reason they had him come in at 7am yesterday and he wasn’t able to come home until 11pm. Saturday is really the only day we get off at the same time, so it was really disappointing when he got called in to work. I hate when squadrons leave for training. They always wait until last minute to fix their plane and so random people have to work until it is fixed. Right now my hubby is working with the tools so he’s been there to make sure they have all the tools they need. It wouldn’t be so bad, but after he got home last night, they informed him that he would need to be back in the morning at 8am. At least he got one extra hour of sleep, but it’s still early for a night worker.
That also threw off our family schedule. My school was offering a trail run of State Board licensing tests today. I had planned to go in, but since hubby had to work, I had nobody to watch Mr. Blue Eyes. I talked to BIL but he has work today and we talked to our normal babysitter, but they already had plans out of town. I don’t feel like I will fail if I don’t go, but it would have been nice to have the extra practice. Especially since she’s not the best teacher in the world and I haven’t even seen the second half of what’s expected yet. On the plus side, I’m down to roughly 70 hours before I graduate. I thought I’d never get here.

My hubby’s school isn’t going so bad either. Unfortunately since he can’t access school from his work we’ve been playing the email game. He emails me the discussion or homework and I have to log in and post it so that the paper isn’t late. It’s not so bad, but I get a little confused maneuvering around his school’s website. Thank goodness he was able to walk me through it on the phone. This set of classes will be done in two weeks! We sat down and figured it out the other day, he needs 10 classes to graduate, only 4 in his actual degree of choice, and the rest upper levels. So he went through the website and found every class that was required, and every one he thought he’d be interested in. Now he just has to pick one off his list and keep going. He decided to only take one class next set of classes because we will be due with our little girl! But the set after that will be full force. He should have his degree by the end of next year!

I’m down to less than 60 days for our little girl! I’m not as big as I was with Blue Eyes, but I feel this one more. I still get morning sickness from time to time and my migraines have not let up at all. I’m really getting tired of going to the doctors. Last time I was there, I ended up being there from 9am to 2pm. That’s a long day to sit and do absolutely nothing. If I’d known I was going to be there that long, I would have brought study material or crocheting to do. In the end, they were able to dull down my migraine and I found out that Little Miss is really active and I am having contractions, I just can’t feel them yet. That’s good news right? I’m getting ready, but it’s not painful yet. I’m so grateful my sis sent down her little one’s hand-me-downs. I’m not worried about what we will put on her anymore! Blue Eyes on the other hand is growing faster than a weed. He went from 12 months to 18 months almost overnight! Not only that, but I noticed his 18months clothes that we just got are sitting a little snug. He’s still as skinny as can be, but he’s getting really tall.

In other news, we have some time before the first of our visitors arrives. Hubby’s best friend is coming down for a short visit next month. It will be a nice break for hubby. I’m hoping it will help him relax before the chaos of a new little one and the jealousy of a certain Blue Eyes. I know the hardest part is the first couple months but I really hope Blue Eyes likes his sister. There are a few things I know I will have to get two of. I’m sure he is not going to share his blankies. He is really funny about them. He recently claimed one of mine, and if I so much as hold it, he melts down. We have to sneak wash them, so I’m sure we will be getting a couple ‘specifically baby girl’ blankies. Another thing we will eventually need two of is rocking horses. Blue Eyes is not fond of sharing his. It’s a giraffe and I have to admit it’s awesome. So instead of fighting about it, we were thinking about getting a little elephant one so that we have two different animals. But that’s all easy stuff. I’m so glad he’s a fairly happy baby.

I finished another project! I bought a pattern from Etsy, but upon buying the pattern I realized that it wasn’t anything like I needed. So I ended up having to re-make the pattern, and having to come up with a different baby bra top was another challenge. It took me a while, but I think I have it down. So here it is! I’m not going to list the pattern, because it was a little hard to follow and it wasn’t really the easiest thing to make. If you do want the author for the pattern don’t hesitate to ask. I’ll send you a link to her page where you can buy the pattern.

Enjoying the last few moments of the weekend….

Mr. Blue Eyes has been up and at it since early this morning. How on earth I ended up with a morning kid is beyond me, but I really don’t want to mess up his natural schedule because if he learns to be a night person, school will be hell in the mornings. Most mornings he is content to be up with some cereal and to watch an episode or two of Mickey while mommy tries to wake up. Not this morning. :0) This morning, he decided that he needed to play in the dogs kennel. Since that’s Bear’s favorite place I could see Bear squished in the corner and Blue Eyes opening and shutting the kennel with both of them in there. Then of course Domino got curious and was looking to see if Blue Eyes would share his cereal, so Domino got caught in the kennel too. It worked really well since Bear and Domino are the two smallest, but as soon as Gamble tried to join them, it got a little crowded and you see all three dogs bolt out while Blue Eyes sits there with a grin on his face. I’m surprised BIL didn’t wake up since the kennel is in his room.

This weekend has been pretty relaxing. The menfolk worked on finishing my NEW PANTRY! I’m so excited. I have had nowhere to store food since we bought this house, and soon it will be finished. It used to be just part of the dining area, but while my dad was in town, they did all the framework and sheet rock. Hubby just hasn’t had a of time to do the finish work lately. He’s still working and going to school, and on Fridays he has “daddy day care”. So he’s really busy. The pantry is almost done though. It needs one more layer of paint and some trim.
